Keith J. McPherson
Keith J. McPhersonis the Director of Design for McGraw-Hill Higher Education where he is responsible for the art direction, management, and scheduling of 125 175 cover and interior designs per year. Additional responsibilities at McGraw-Hill include the management of six full time designers and two part time design coordinators. In addition to the management of six full time staff designers, Keith has successfully developed and managed MHHEs college design internship program.
For the past 15 years, Keith has recruited junior and senior level design students from regional colleges and universities. Students selected to the program are given hands-on experience in designing college textbook covers and interiors and the opportunity to interact with in-house staff designers.
Keith received his design education from Kent State University and a BA from Governors State University. Keith has lectured on textbook design at Indiana University, Columbia College, and Saint Francis University. He has received design awards from the New York Art Directors Club, and the Chicago Book Clinic.
When not designing, Keith enjoys spending time with his wife and son, collecting Pennsylvania period fossils, hiking, fishing, and reading. His favorite artists are N.C. Wyeth, Maxfield Parrish, and John Singer Sargent. His favorite books are The Prayer of Jabez by Dr. Bruce H. Wilkinson, Orbiting the Giant Hairball by Gordon MacKenzie, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra, and Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson, MD.
